The Infotonics Technology Center in Canandaigua, NY recently announced an award from the US Economic Development Administration (EDA) of the U.S. Department of Commerce a $3 million award, matched against $3.4 million in state and private matches, to build the Infotonics Commercialization Center. The Center will be co-located with Infotonics' main facility and will feature 8000 square-feet in office suites and lab space, as well as 15,000 square-feet in meeting and flex space. The Center will hold startup companies and internally created spin-off companies that are photonics or microsystems-enabled. Infotonics and Javelin are working now to secure tenants who hold the prospect of developing significant new technologies in that space.
